Welcome to the Mellon Lab.

We study how the brain and pituitary interact to produce hormones that control reproduction in mammals using a variety of molecular, cellular, physiological, and genomic approaches.  We study a wide variety of topics including circadian rhythm, stress, obesity, prenatal hormone exposure, neuronal migration, neuronal fate determination, puberty, the menstrual cycle while remaining focused on the hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone neuron (GnRH) and the pituitary gonadotrope, which produces luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
